What is Ignite Student Ministries
Ignite is a weekly event hosted by New Vintage Church for kids who are of middle school and high school age. It meets every Thursday at 6:30 PM at our church café. It is run by adult mentors and peer leaders who are chosen by our church leaders.
Ignite is a Safe, Third Space for Kids
New Vintage Church offers Ignite to help kids not only learn about god, but also have access to a safe, third space. What is a third space? The first two spaces in the lives of many kids are home and school. A third space is another community where kids can find positive social interaction with kids of a similar age. For many adolescents, every challenge they experience can feel catastrophic. Having a space like Ignite allows them to be around adult mentors and peer leaders who can help them navigate these tricky times.
A Fun and Meaningful Structure
At each ignite meeting, we try to create a blend of fun activities with Christ-centered, interdenominational learning. We start out our meeting with 30 minutes of playing games. We follow that with student-led singing of songs. Then we watch a 30-minute interactive video from Alpha USA that helps young people better understand their faith. Example topics covered in the videos include “Who is the holy spirit and his role in my life” and “Why is there evil in the world.” The videos include many breaks for discussions amongst the group.

At New Vintage Church, we strive to make Ignite a place where everyone is authentic and adheres to a high-level of integrity. This includes our adult mentors, peer leaders as well as the youths who come each week to learn about Christ.
It is a safe place to be who you are, hang out with kids of similar ages and learn Christ-centered values
It is a no-pressure space; we don’t judge people for their background, appearance, or how they approach learning about Christ
It provides a feeling of independence as they meet and interact with new friends from a variety of backgrounds in an environment that promotes positivity
We help kids develop critical thinking skills, which will give them confidence and the necessary tools to mature successfully
